The rear window is covered in contravision, which allows you to see out of the vehicle, but creates a solid substrate to add your design to.

Olympic Games creates signage opportunity

As the Olympics gets nearer, there are many opportunities available to make signs with the iconic symbol. The simple 5 ring design has stood the test of time and means so much.

Here is a sign system that has floated down the Thames as part of the build up to the main event. Organised by specialist event and brand experience agency Innovision, ‘Rings on the River’ cost more than £930,000 and used some 34 tonnes of steel to create the 25 x 11m structure. The rings utilised front lit enamelled aluminium sheeting for the front colours and LED illuminated 10mm opalescent acrylic for the back.

The signs looks even more spectacular when lit up at night.

Evolution of a brand

Your business brand is an important part of your image. The amount of customers that come to us and as for a sign and “aren’t bothered” by the fonts or colours amazes us. Keeping a uniform brand / logo allows your customer to identify you more easily. If you have 4 or 5 different versions, it would be easy for your target audience to assume that you are 4 or 5 different businesses.

Below is an info graphic showing the evolution of 2 different brands over the 100 years plus. Its interesting to see the similarities and where the design has changed.

It seems as though every one else is doing it and surely it isn’t essential to let your mind spill onto your corporate website. After over a year in consideration we have decided ‘yes’ it is essential to share more with you our customers.

The blog will share things that we find amusing and just general interesting stuff. It may not all be sign related, but at the end of the day we are more than just sign guys.

The Oldsmobile

Getting married is big business. I remember from the planning days of my wedding that the variety of products available is vast. Standing out from the crowd is key at Wedding Events.

Oldsmobile approached us to print some panels for the backdrop of their stand. Setting up an scene of timeless romance. The main focus of the stand however wasn’t our printing, it was the car.

“This 1956 Oldsmobile is the top of the range 98 model offering a smooth 5.3 litre V8 engine and a comfortable ride. These cars were renowned for their luxury, style and comfort and this car in its cream and metallic green coachwork certainly lives up to its claims.”

The Old Catholic Church Sign

One of Newcastle’s hidden gems. The Old Catholic Church is located to the side of the Tyne Bridge. The Clock tower is easily seen from the passing traffic, but actually finding the building is harder. The Church is tucked away.

Our project here was to install a new sign system, to replace a wooden post system that had rotted away. Our suggestion was an aluminum post and panel system. The sign is important for this church as services are currently only held on Sunday at 10.30am.

Frosting at the York House Hotel

The York House Hotel has just undergone a refurbishment of their reception and dining rooms. As part of the refurbishments we were asked to help provide a little privacy for guests that were sitting in the breakfasting area. The solution here was a frosted vinyl graphic applied to the windows. We used a leaf motif that was present in the wall paper design.

The frost runs the width of the building at a continuous height to reflect symmetry.

Photographing this project was more difficult than first thought as the glazing was very reflective.

The doors to the staff areas also included the design. This gave privacy, but also just enough vision for staff to see through.

Imogen’s Wall

It isn’t that often that we get the chance to publish our hand painted work. The reason for this is that we seem to do most of it for other sign companies! So, for a little change here is some large lettering that we have painted on to a girl’s bedroom wall. The lettering was about 1 metre tall.

Either the room is too small or the camera didn’t have a wide enough lens. Either way the graphics have a massive impact on entering the room and creates an interesting visual.

APC & Simpson Bros. Graphics

APC offer a nationwide delivery service, which mans that they have a network of distributors across the country. Which is excellent for a parcel delivery, but not so straight forward for an installation crew.

The above graphics were supplied to Simpson Bros. for fitting onto their new fleet of vehicle. We have always had a close relationship with other sign companies across the country and are always more than happy to help. So, on this project we installed the APC vehicle livery kit and supplied and fitted the Simpson Bros. Co branding.
